James Harrell Howell

Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at Collier-Butler Chapel for James Harrell Howell, 77, of Gadsden, who passed away Friday, Jan. 31, 2014. Pastor Phillip Elliott will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.

Mr. Howell was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Cordova High School and Georgia Tech University. He was employed by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Howell; and his parents, Woody and Ruth Howell.

Mr. Howell is survived by his children, Karen Boak, Kirk (Lori) Howell; grandchildren, Christina, Travis and Melanie Boak; special brother and sister-in-law, David (Linda) Jackson, Jerry (Peggy) Beckler, and Lina Pawlson.

Pallbearers will be Charles Copeland, Wilburn Hunkapiller, Scott Williamson, Jerry Foster, Flavius Maddox, Johnny McBurnett, Travis Boak and David Jackson.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Ms. Anna Bonner, who has been a dear friend to James for the past several years.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
