James E. Packer

Funeral will be held Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Collier-Butler Chapel for James E. Packer, 94 of Gadsden, who passed away Monday, September 14, 2015. Pastor Les Anderson will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.

Mr. Packer was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will truly be missed by all that knew him. He was retired from Republic Steel and very active in the El Senor Club. He was a lifelong member and elder at Trinity Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace C. Packer.

Mr. Packer is survived by his daughters, Brenda (Hugh) Baskin and Sharon (Rick) Mazzone; son, Jimmy (Marie) Packer; grandchildren, Karen (Jamie) Bowlin, Susan (Dave) Gray, Kelly (Holt) Page, Joseph (Rachel) Bone, and Grace Elizabeth Packer; great-grandchildren, Alex (Abby) Bowlin, Caroline Grace Bowlin, Jack, Ellie James, and Sam Gray, Jackson and Grace Anne Page, Avery and Quinton James Bone; sister, Sarah Woodall; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1003 N. Albert Raines Blvd, Gadsden, AL 35901.

The family will accept friends from 9:30-11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
