James Lawrence Patterson

Today we are here to pay our last respects to Brother Lawrence Patterson, 80, who went to be with the Lord on September 5, 2025, at his home with his loving wife by his side. He was born April 1, 1945, to Rev. Robert & Lillian Patterson of Gadsden, Al.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bobby Ray Patterson. He is survived by his sister Dorothy (Cecil) Jarrells.

Lawrence left a legacy of unconditional love, ministry as a husband, dad, pawpaw, and brother. He served the Lord in many ways for over fifty years of ministry by pastoring churches, running a mission called “Little Piece of Heaven” to feed the hungry, trying to help people come to know God through his ministry. He helped take some off the streets to save them and their children.

He tried to lead our children right from wrong and to teach them how to be good to people and to serve the lord. He also taught them to always do unto others as you would want them to do unto you. In life it doesn’t always work but with the help of God he did his best. He was a good man, and he fought a good fight. He kept the faith here on earth. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with his whole heart. He always tried to teach them the right things to do and speak.

He now leaves his family in God’s hands, with his love and prayer that his and God’s teaching always be with them. Lawrence taught his family about Jesus and his way, and now its up to them. He leaves his family with all the love in his heart. Lawrence prays that you were on the right path with your life.

Lawrence’s desire was always peace and love for one another. To all my grandchildren and great-grandchildren, I now leave you in God’s hands and pray that you take heed to the Word of God.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Jones Chapel Missionary Baptist Church located at, 11441 Rocky Ford Road, Piedmont Al 36272 with Bro Chris Gaskin officiating. Burial to follow in the Jones Chapel Cemetery. Family will accept friends from 12:00-2:00 pm at the church prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Daniel, Steven, Zack, Christopher, Austin, Jaylin and Kaden
