Jane A Norton

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Forrest Cemetery for Jane Allman Hughes Norton, 90, of Douglas, AL, who passed away Monday, April 22, 2013. Rev. Norman G. Williams will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.

Mrs. Norton was born in Gadsden, attended Gadsden City schools and graduated from Gadsden High School in 1939. She was a retired business woman and a past member of the BPW and the Gadsden’s Woman’s Club. She was a past-president of the Rose Garden Club, the Gadsden Federation of Garden Clubs, and the Credit Women’s Breakfast Club. She was also a member of the Gardenia Garden Club. She relocated to Gulf Shores in 1998, Fairhope in 2005, and to Douglas in 2009.

Mrs. Norton was preceded in death by her parents, C.E. and Tressie Hardeman Allman; brothers, R. Harold Allman and Bill J. Allman; husbands, Joe A. Hughes and Robert L. Norton.

She is survived by her daughters: Rebecca Hughes (Rev. Norman G.) Williams, of Montgomery, AL, and Renee Hughes (Robert J.) Fazekas, of Douglas, AL; grandchildren: Glynn (Teresa) Williams of Millbrook, AL, Christy Williams (Lt. Col. Christopher) Meredith, of Centreville, VA, Bobbi Fazekas McGhee, of Southside, AL, and Jimmy Fazekas, of Southside, AL; and 8 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any hospice, the Alzheimer’s Research at UAB, or to your favorite charity.

There will be no visitation.
