

Funeral Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mr. J.B. Hill, 86, Glencoe, who passed away Friday, June 27, 2014. Rev. Philip Elliott will officiate with burial at Duck Springs Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.
Mr. Hill was born in Etowah County to Mary and Brock Hill on November 24, 1927. He was a 1946 graduate of Etowah High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from July 1946 until December 1953. While in the Air Force he served as an educational specialist in the 3384th Technical Training Squadron. He received the WWII Victory Medal and was honorably discharged as Sergeant. Mr. Hill was a member of Glencoe First Baptist Church. He was a Master Mason of Wahouma Lodge #763, Birmingham, AL from 1954 to 1985. He worked for Hayes Aircraft from 1953 to 1959 and retired from both Unitog Co. and Vann Express.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Barbara Minyard and Evelyn Hill and his wives, Virginia Ruth Stanford Hill and Jimmie Bishop Hill.
Survivors include his daughter, Deborah (Darrell) Daniel, step children, Tommie (Jim) Putnum, LuEllyn (Eddy) Lassiter, grandchildren, Jennifer (Avery) Gibbs, Demetria (John) Works and Chris (Sarah) Harbin, great grandchildren, James “Jamie” Avery Gibbs, Jakob Daniel Gibbs, Katie Paige Works, Jon Austin Works and Natalie Danielle Harbin.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Webb Sledge and staff, Dr. G. Patel, Dr. Jaiswal and Dr. Khusro.
The family extends special thanks to Alacare Hospice, Riverview Regional Medical Center 7th Tower Staff, Rachael Watts for her kindness, care and especially her love.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service Sunday at the funeral home.
