Jewell E. Bright Sosebee

Memorial service will be held at 12:30 pm on Wednesday at Collier-Butler Funeral Home for Jewell Ephyllis Bright Sosebee of Southside, who took the Lord’s hand on Monday, July 25, 2011. Dr. Scott Harris, Brother Bill Drummons, Brother Darren Hood and Brother Lauil Thompson will officiate. Interment will be in Williams Southside Memorial Park. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Service directing. Mother’s Christian life was important to her. She lived the example and spoke to every family member and actually anyone with whom she came in contact about God -witnessing that Jesus is the only way. She gave Bibles to many and financial support to her church was foremost in her mind. Education was also very important to her, so much so, that at the age of 54 she passed her GED and walked across the stage to receive her HS diploma with a standing ovation from her children and friends. She then went on to receive her cosmetology license at the age of 62.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Lamar Sosebee, son, Patrick John Sosebee, daughter-in-law, Debbie Plate Sosebee; parents, Ewing and Trudy Bright; brothers, Jack Bright, Johnny Bright and sisters, Sarah Brown Simmons, Elizabeth Strickland Powell, Ruby Jo Brown, and Louise Jeffers.

She is survived by her children: Peggy (Billy) Samples, Robert (Becky) Sosebee, Michael (Carolyn) Sosebee, Billie Jeanne Sosebee, Phyllis (Bobby) Garrett, Timothy (Sandra) Sosebee, Thomas Sosebee and Jeannie (Jeff) Williams. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Cary (Miranda) Sosebee and children Alex and Emma; Craig (Kathleen) Sosebee and children Hal, Rebekah and Kaylee; Keely (Derek) Brewer and children Macy and Devan; Molly (Bill) Jordan and son Will; Shelby and Haley Jaye; Misty (Adam) Ledbetter and son Aiden; Johnathan Sosebee; Yvonne (Rob) Anderson; Christy Gottschalk and children Nickolas and Virginia; Al (Barbara Anne) Garrett and children Abigail, Julianna and Brinson; Keith (Charity) Garrett and children Kaeden and Wyatt; Meredith Griffin and son Nathan; Matthew Sosebee; Megan Sosebee; Trisha (Brian) Smith and children Bryce, Josh and Gabe; Jason (Kristin) Sosebee and children Sarah, Kayla and Oliver; Shane (Shannon) Williams and children Mia, Asher and Cruz; Trudie (Chase) Guffey and daughter Sarah and one loving sister; Janice Grimm. She is also survived by many more extended family members; and Prissy, her loving puppy who was always with her as a constant loving companion. The pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jason Ayers, Dr. James Robinson, Dr. Olga Bogdanova, Jaime Battles with Amedisys Hospice and the nurses and technicians of 9 South Gadsden Regional Medical Center. The family will receive loved ones and friends for visitation from 6:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday at Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
