Jimmie D Mabrey

Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Jimmie D. Mabrey, 69, who passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013. Rev .O.B. Works and Rev. Craig Reynolds will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.

Mr. Mabrey retired from LTV Steel with 20 years of service. He served as President of Local 2176 Steel Workers Union from 1976-1982 and was currently Vice President of Steel Workers Retirees. Then, he worked as public relations director at the Exchange Bank. He served as past President of Gadsden Labor Counsel. He was a member of Smith Chapel Baptist Church. Mr. Mabrey loved his church family and was proud to be called a Christian.

He was preceded in death by his parents J.D. Mabrey and Mae E. Mabrey.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Addison Mabrey; children: Jimmie David (Michelle) Mabrey Jr. , Jessica Dru Mabrey (Brian) Boatwright, and Joel Del (Sharon) Mabrey; grandchildren Dillon Mabrey, Catie (Bo)Mewbourn, J.D. and Dalton Boatwright, Jordan, Jackson, and Emilee Mabrey; sister, Linda Gail Wood; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be friends and family.

The family will accept friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at the funeral home.
