Joey Alan McMurrey

Joey Alan McMurrey, age 64, of Gadsden, AL passed to his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. He was preceded in death by parents, Hubert and Arlene McMurrey; his brothers, Donnie McMurrey and Kenneth Burrow; special nephew, Jason heath; sister-in-law, Connie Sitz; in-laws, Charles and Imogene Simpson; and special family friends, Adele Morris.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Jean Ann McMurrey; daughters, Jennilee (Michael) Jaggers and Jodilynn (Jason) Steele; brothers, Jerry (Deborah) McMurrey and Gary (Diane) McMurrey; sisters, Teresa (Robert) Heath Carolyn Dempsy, and Frances Brawley; and a host of nieces and nephews he loved very much. His pride and joy, however, exist within “The Sensational Seven”, as he called them, his grandchildren, Annalee, Luke, Avareece, Jake, Charlee, Bryce, and Beckett.

Joey fought some tough battles in his lifetime, from the car accident that injured his leg many years ago to his fight with cancer. He handled them all with grace and humor. He was a Christian man who now is celebrating at the feet of Jesus. No more pain, no bad leg, and no suffering. He is made whole again! He also looked after his family and was there to cheer them on through everything. Joey loved to joke around and make everyone laugh. Most will remember him by his love for Alabama football, so please feel free to wear your Bama gear to his service or dress casual.

His kind heart will continue to live through those he touched and that are left behind to miss him. For him, please do something kid for someone else today. He made the world a better place; let us continue that in his honor. Roll Tide Joe!

A memorial service will be held at The Well Church, 1405 Owens Street Gadsden, AL 35904, at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024.
