He leaves behind sons, Scott Young (Karon) and Jeff Young (Marsha); grandchildren, Cody, Justin, Sean, Aspen, Savannah, Leland, and Faith Young; great-grandson, Bryce Young; siblings, Maxine Floyd, Linda Kay Young, Greg Young (Sherry), and Rickey Young (Betty); and a host of nieces and nephews.
John was a graduate of Hokes Bluff High School and retired from Goodyear. He was a deacon at Croft Ferry Baptist Church. John enjoyed farming, fishing, and hunting, and was a taxidermist. He loved Auburn football, but what made him happiest was watching his children and grand/great-grandchildren enjoy their activities.
Much appreciation goes out to Chet and Darlene Soop; friends from Croft Ferry Baptist Church; members of the Ballplay Bend Volunteer Fire Department; Jay Beggs; Slayde Mizell; and ACG Hospice. Many thanks to Henry McGlaughn for the close friendship that meant so much. The family would like to also extend a special thanks to Laura Bush for her tireless caregiving.
Pallbearers are Cody Young, Sean Young, Justin Young, Leland Young, Bryce Young, Greg Young, and Rickey Young.
Honorary pallbearers are Todd Moring, Henry McGlaughn, and Jay Beggs.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John can be made to Croft Ferry Baptist Church in Ballplay.
