

Chapel funeral service for Johnny James McMahan, 84, Southside, will be 12:30 pm Sunday, December 26th at Collier-Butler Funeral Home. James passed away on Thursday, December 23rd. Dr. Michael Yopp and Tommy Crocker will officiate with burial to follow at Williams-Southside Memorial Park with Collier-Butler Funeral Home directing.
James retired after working for Alabama Power for 41 years. He also was a veteran of WWII and Korea. James was a member and served as Deacon of White Springs Baptist Church. Mr. McMahan was preceded in death by his son, Craig McMahan; and parents, Lee and Ruby McMahan.
Surviving James will be his wife of 62 years, Ruby Jo McMahan; daughters, Gail (Dennis) Long and Kristi (Chris) McCarthy; daughter-in-law, Donilda McMahan; grandchildren, Jamie (Andre) Champagne, Brandon Long, Kevin McMahan, Kelli (Randy) Bjornstad, Meghan and Kathleen McCarthy; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Ray (Sue) McMahan, Wayne McMahan; sisters, Sue Cooley, Nell (Kenneth) Presley, Betty Wolfroads; sisters-in-law, Jessie Jones and Eula Mae Chaffin; special daughter, Marsha (Dr. Phillip) Williams; and special friend, Hassie Moon.
Pallbearers will be Kevin McMahan, Randy Bjornstad, Andre Champagne, Phillip Chaffin, Charles Jones, and Richard Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny’s Sunday School Class, Deacons of White Springs Baptist, J.A. Christopher, Albert Wood, and Lin Parton.
The family would like to give special thanks to the caregivers, CCU nurses of 3rd floor at Riverview, Dr. Jaiswal, Dr. Amin, Dr. Shaw, and Dr. B.J. Patel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to White Springs Baptist Church, 411 Rainbow Drive, Rainbow City, AL 35906.
The family will be accepting friends from 10:30 until 12:30 Sunday at Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
