

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 22, 2011 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Jordan Lee Richards, age 27, of Gadsden, who passed away Friday, August 19, 2011. Rev. David Denson will officiate with burial to follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Service directing.
Jordan was a 2002 graduate of Etowah High School. He was employed by Highland Water Authority and volunteered as a fireman at Highland Fire and Rescue. He was a member of North Glencoe Baptist Church. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, playing softball and spending time with family. Jordan was always there to lend a hand and was known as a very selfless and caring person who never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Bobby Lyle Jordan and R.E. Richards; and great grandmother, Vera Wallace.
Survivors include his wife, Marka Richards; daughters, Lexie Ann Richards and Brooke Bishop; son, Jordan Hunter Richards; parents, Danny and Susan Richards; mother and father-in-law, Jamie and Tina Bohannon; brother, Daniel (Jennifer) Richards; sister, Robin (Blake) Fortenberry; special nephews, Caleb Richards and Braxton Fortenberry; brother and sister-in-law, Tyler and Sony Smothers; nephews, Koltn, Memphis and Logan Smothers; grandmothers, Billie Ann Jordan, Lila Jean Richards and Wyona Smothers; uncles, Bobby Jordan, Jason (Tiffany) Jordan and Brent (Laura) Jordan; aunts, Shirley (Charles) Copeland and Rhonda Jordan; cousins, Kevin (Jamie) Copeland, Holly (Kevin) Troup, Jennifer (Michael) Gardner and Amy, Kaley, Josh, and Parker Jordan; as well as special hunting buddy, Jim Gibson.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Carter, Ross Butler, Brett McBurnett, Adam Hoffman, Wes Wilson, Brian Davis, Adam Gilmer and Jim Gibson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Jordan, Brent Jordan, Jason Jordan, Josh Jordan, Blake Fortenberry and all his lifelong special friends.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Highland Volunteer Fire Department and Etowah County Sheriff’s Office.
Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to The Children’s Fund of Jordan Richards at The Exchange Bank, Noccalula Branch.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
