Joyce Agricola Parker of Gadsden, Alabama passed away on Friday January 11, 2019. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm, Friday January 25 at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter. Father Carl Saxton will officiate. Collier Butler Funeral Home announcing.
Joyce graduated from Gadsden High School; Fairfax Hall, Fairfax, Virginia; and the Four Arts Club, New York.
Joyce served as Executive VP of the Alabama City Bank and as a Director of Southtrust Bank (27 years). She served on the United Way, Boys and Girls Club, and the Episcopal Day School Boards and the Holy Comforter Vestry. She taught crafts at the Episcopal Day Camp for many years. She was a lifelong Episcopalian and worshipped at both Holy Comforter and St. Matthews in the Pines, Seale, Alabama. She enjoyed membership in the Gadsden Country Club and D.A.R. Joyce volunteered at the American Red Cross for 50 years.
Joyce's great, great grandfather, Gabriel Hughes, along with his brother Joseph, was a founder of Gadsden. Her grandfather, Otto Agricola, was a founder of the Holy Comforter.
She enjoyed golf, tennis, horseback riding, hunting, and sewing.
Joyce was a devoted fan and supporter of Auburn University. WAR EAGLE, FOREVER!
Joyce was preceded in death by her mother, Mary George Hughes Agricola; father, Hugh Agricola, Sr.; and brother, Hugh Agricola, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Parker, nieces and nephew, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and many friends.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter, 156 South 9th Street, Gadsden, AL 35901 or St. Matthew's in The Pines, PO Box 221 Seale, AL 36875.
