L Paul McWhorter

Memorial Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Rev. L. Paul McWhorter, age 77, of Gadsden who passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services in charge.

Rev. McWhorter was a graduate of University of Alabama and Birmingham Southern. He earned his Master of Divinity from Emory University. Rev. McWhorter was in the ministry for 35 years and was currently the pastor of Turkeytown United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mable Pauline Bannister Hinkle and Leamon McWhorter.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly McWhorter; daughters, Pam Murphree (Roger), Terri Carie (Bob), Angie McCall (Joel); sons, Jeff Smith (Crystal), Tim McWhorter (Sheila) and Gordon McWhorter, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Turkeytown United Methodist Church.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to physicians and nursing staff at Riverview Regional Medical Center, especially the nursing staff in the CCU, IVU, and the 3rd floor.

There will be no visitation.
