Lydia, what a joy it was to know Laura. Your entire family was a blessing to me while I was at Gaston through your volunteering at school, the boy scout meetings, the bookfairs, Chris' illness and the miracle of Laura's bone marrow match. Laura really stepped up and helped with the boys while you were at Duke. I admired her for being so strong at such a young age. Why our lives take the path they do remains a mystery until our eyes are opened so gloriously in heaven. Thank you for sharing your kind loving spirit as a friend and parent and for sharing your 4 wonderful children with me. My life is richer for having known all of you. God bless you with beautiful memories and the strength of His loving arms.

Dear Buff Family,
The funeral was beautiful and represented Laura perfectly. I am so thankful to be a part of your family and to have you as a part of my family. I love you all and I will continue to pray for each of you. I lost Josh a few years ago and I know what lies ahead. It isn't easy but with God's love you will get through it. You will always miss her and she will be missed by many. Please feel free to contact me if there is anything you need or if any of you just need to talk. I love you all and you remain in my prayers.

Mere words cannot begin to express the feelings and emotions one goes through in losing a child. Part of you is lost at the same time, but understanding Laura's freedom now, will over time bring some comfort. My heart aches for your loss as you try to understand why.
