
Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mrs. LaVerne M. Story, Rainbow City, who passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2012. The Rev. Lynn Dimon will officiate with burial in Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mrs. Story was born Jan. 24, 1918, to Ernest and Clara Niebuher in Chicago, Ill. She moved to Gadsden upon marriage to her husband, Frank Story Jr., on May 12, 1946. She was a member of Rainbow City First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Story enjoyed her family and especially the love of her life, her great-grandson, Parker. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Survivors are her daughter and "son"-in-law, Kim and Dudley Parker; devoted and caring granddaughter, Kristi (Michael) Gross, and great-grandson, Parker Gross; nephew, Jimmy (Pam) Story; great-nephew, Clint; cousin, Pat Milligan, Cincinnati, Ohio; and very special friend, Vera Jones, Arvada, Colo.
The family extends thanks to her special caregivers, Lisa Murphy, Sherry Arflack and Michelle Farlow, who gave her loving care, Angels of Healing Sitting Service, Lawley Hospice, Barbie, Staci and Dr. Robinson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pediatric Brain Tumor and Trust for Bayleigh Phillips, 302 Ridgefield Court, Ashville, NC 28806; or Lawley Hospice.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of service Thursday at the funeral home.
