Lois Marie Weaver

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at Pinehaven Memorial Gardens, Hollywood, AL for Lois Marie (Arnold) Weaver, 87, who passed away Friday, July 14, 2023. Rev. Robert Turnbull will officiate. Collier Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.

Mrs. Weaver was born in Fackler-Rural, Alabama on October 13, 1935 and graduated from Hayden High School in 1953. In 1957, she married Edward Benny Weaver Jr. She had a remarkable work ethic and was known from an early age to be able to out pick any man in the cotton fields of Jackson County. During her career she worked at several banks and served as the financial secretary at First Baptist Church, Gadsden. She retired from Litchfield Middle School as the financial secretary when she was 80 years old.

She was a lifelong Atlanta Braves and Auburn Tiger fan. She was an avid gardener and bird watcher and loved spending time working in her yard. In her later years she also enjoyed binge watching The Hallmark Channel. Most of all she was very devoted to her family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids. Once the grandkids arrived on the scene, everyone called her “RheRhe”.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Benny Weaver Jr; and parents, Oscar Lee Arnold and Sarah Elizabeth (Lloyd) Arnold; and brother, James Rae Arnold and sister Veda Irene Arnold; and daughter-in-law Susan Haynes Weaver.

She is survived by sister, Gail (Jim) Arnold Shafer; son, Eddie (Rachael) Weaver, daughter, Penny (Marc) Walley; grandchildren, Adrienne Walley, Ben (Amanda) Weaver, Madison (Greg) Walley Schultz, Dan (Chasity) Weaver and Ellie Steward; great grandchildren, Sarah Beth Walley, Aiden Weaver, Jake Walley, Charlotte Schultz, SJ Weaver and Beckett Weaver.

The family would like to extend its deepest appreciation to Healing Hearts Home Care, the caregivers on the seventh floor at Gadsden Regional Hospital and the caregivers with ProHealth Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Gadsden.
