

A funeral service will be held at 12:00PM on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Hokes Bluff, for Mrs. Lora Eudine Estes, age 91, of Hokes Bluff, AL who passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022. Pastor Ryan Morris will officiate. Burial will follow at Young’s Chapel Church Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements. The family will accept friends from 11:00AM until the hour of the service at the church.
Mrs. Estes was married to the late Joe D. Estes for 59 years. She was an Air Force wife, moving their residence every year. Lora was a member at First Baptist Church of Hokes Bluff. She was an avid gardener, spending many hours a day touching her many plants, and landscaped yards. She enjoyed playing softball, playing against women half her age, and pitched for the State Championship team in the women’s major open. She won MVP honors during that championship. Later in life, Lora took up golfing. She was the clubhouse manager at Cherokee County Club. She once even shot a 71 and the age of 78, and crowned Cherokee County Club Champion. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she loved nothing more than attending events of her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lora was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Estes; parents, Bk and Dolly Herring; son, Glenn Estes; siblings, Milton, Irene, Marvin, Houston, Grady, George, Anna Lois, Louise, and Adrian; and granddaughter, Jordan Estes.
She is survived by her sons, Mike (Brenda) Estes, Darryl (Sheree) Estes, and Burt (Karen) Estes; grandsons, Jay (Ivy) Estes, Adam (Abby) Estes, Eric (Jana) Estes, and Zack Estes; granddaughters, Robyn Estes, and Kristen (Taylor) Talbot; 14 great grandchildren, and sister, Sybil Barwick.
Pallbearers will be Adam Estes, Kristen Talbot, Eric Estes, Jay Estes, Robyn Estes, Cade Estes, Zack Estes, and David Garrett.
Honorary pallbearers will be Payton Williams, Traci Briggs, and Charlotte Herring.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to loving caregiver, Traci Briggs, and Inhabit nurse, Payton Williams.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hokes Bluff Food Bank.
