Lorene Howell Pruitt, 92, of Gadsden, AL (formerly of Glencoe) passed away May 6, 2018. Steve Parrish and Reverend Roger Graham will officiate. Services will be held at Collier Butler Funeral Home Wednesday on May 9th at 4:00 with burial in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery on Tabor Road. The family will meet at 1:30 and receive friends from 2:00 until the time of the service. There will be no graveside service. Collier Butler Funeral Home is in charge.
Mrs. Pruitt was a native of Marshall County. She graduated from Arab High School in 1945. She lived most of her life in Etowah County.
She was preceded in death by her parents Wade and Ethel Griffin Howell, her husband of 48 years William Fred Pruitt, brother Hugh Howell and sister Christine Dearing. She taught more than 50 years in the Children’s Department in Sunday School in several Baptist Churches in Etowah County. She was formerly employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and the Etowah County Board of Education. She is a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. She was a strong, humble Christian prayer warrior, who loved people and always tried to do the right thing.
She is survived by her son Donny Pruitt and wife Debbie Burger Pruitt, granddaughter Jenny Pruitt (fiancé Jeff Simpson) of Marietta, GA, brothers Bobby Howell and James Wade (Maxine) Howell and chosen family members Dell and James Mackey.
Honorary Pall Bearers will be Loyd Watkins, Wilburn Hunkapillar, Max Cochran, Charles Copeland, Larry Pruitt, John Woods, Flavis Maddox, Larry Pierce, Lenford (Tom) Nabors, and Jerry Toney.
Mrs. Pruitt requested no flowers. You can honor her by giving to International Missions at Bellevue Baptist Church.
