Luther was a longtime member and deacon of Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Gadsden. His faith was the foundation of his life, and he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, above all else. He loved his family and friends dearly and enjoyed fishing and spending time riding in the boat. He was also one of the pioneers of the annual fish fry at Meadowbrook Baptist Church. Luther proudly served his country in the National Guard.
His love for his family, friends, and fishing was surpassed only by his love and devotion to Jesus Christ, whom he faithfully served throughout his life and met face-to-face on Tuesday.
Luther was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Riley; his parents, Luther B. Riley, Sr., and Annie Will Riley; his brother, Harold Riley; and his sister-in-law, Rose Ann Riley.
He is survived by his daughters, Pam (David) Bone and Lynn Riley; sisters, Mary Frances Hancock, widow of the late Herman Hancock, and Faye (Lawrence) Owen; along with other relatives, church family, and many dear friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Rainbow Memorial Gardens, with Randy Gunter officiating.
Pallbearers will be Alberto Echeverri, Keith Hancock, David Bone, Bubba Satcher, and Jesse Massey. The Deacon Body of Meadowbrook Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the pastoral staff and friends of Meadowbrook Baptist Church, the ER nightshift and CCU nurses at Riverview Regional Medical Center, especially Jake Phillips, CCU nurse, and the staff of Southern Care Hospice, especially Emily Devin, hospice nurse, for the kindness, compassion, and care shown to Luther.
