Marilyn Lewis Jordan

Marilyn Lewis Jordan, was born on November 9, 1927 and passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on November 19, 2021. A graveside service will be held Friday, November 26, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Forrest Cemetery, 700 South 15th Street, Gadsden, AL. Collier Butler Funeral Home will direct services. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Charles Jordan, MD and their beloved, English Cocker, Darby. Marilyn was a wonderful, loving mother to 3 children, Darwin (Kaye), Mark (Lori) and Cheryl Morrow (Tim). She loved and enjoyed her seven grandchildren, Catherine Jordan Boozer (Brian), Brad Jordan (Christy), Chase Jordan, Anna Kate Jordan Pankey (Bryson), Taylor Morrow (Stephanie), Jordan Morrow Knox (Stewart), and John Darwin Jordan, as well as 15 great grandchildren. Originally a native of Texas, Marilyn lived in Alabama for 75 years. She was an active, faithful member of East Gadsden United Methodist Church for 57 years. The past 8 years she lived in the Trussville/Birmingham area. Marilyn never missed a moment of her three children’s lives, always being their biggest cheerleader in her quiet, supportive way. She showed her children how to navigate life while giving them the freedom to pursue their interests in a loving and caring home. Being an animal lover, she welcomed a variety of family pets into their lives. She was a thoughtful and caring friend to many. She was generous with her time, talents and gifts. She enjoyed various bridge clubs, serving in the Medical Auxiliary, supporting the Rainbow City Animal Shelter, and serving Meals on Wheels. Marilyn was always thoughtful with her gestures, consistently writing caring letters to friends and family. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed researching and sharing her wonderful recipes. She was an avid reader and had an extensive library. Her pastimes included birdwatching, growing cactus, gardening and visiting with family, friends and those in need. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Rainbow City Animal Shelter or the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. I must say what a lovely write up and tribute to life of diversified strength and talent, many of which she passed on.
I did not know her but I know Mark, what a fine guy he seems to be.
May she rest in her peaceful place that has been waiting on her.
