Marjorie L. Hicks

Marjorie Hicks, 81, went to her heavenly home July 2, 2011 after an extended illness. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, July 5th at 11:00 at Collier-Butler Funeral Home with Pastors Van Lockridge and Gerald Taylor officiating. Graveside to follow at 4:00 at Shoal Creek Cemetery, Deatsville, AL Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services Directing. Marjorie was a native of Elmore County but had lived the last 45 years in Gadsden. She was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church. Her humor, smile and love will not be forgotten. Wonderful Wife, Mother and “MeMaw” to many. She was preceded in death by her husband, L.M. Hicks, Jr., parents, James and Hazel Langley, brother, Barry Langley and grandchild, Davis Cox. She is survived by daughters, Susan (Robert) McMurry, Jackie (Fred) Kaplan, Carol (Ronnie) Lee and son, Larry (Lisa) Hicks, nine grandchildren , eleven great grandchildren, many special cousins, nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Special thanks to Gadsden Regional 9th Floor and MICU staff, Coosa Valley Health Care, Dr. Kenny Smith and Davita Dialysis Nurses. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to a charity of donor’s choice. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home Tuesday.
