Martha Viola Killian

July 24, 1917 – February 11, 2014

Martha Griffin Killian, 96, of Gadsden, Alabama died February 11, 2014.

Visitation will be held at Collier Butler Funeral Home on Saturday, February 15, 2014, at 1:00 pm with funeral service at 2:00 pm. at Collier-Butler Chapel. The Reverends George Cobb and Troy Walker will officiate. Entombment will be at Crestwood Mausoleum. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will be directing.

Mrs. Killian was an active member of East Gadsden United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, Children's Coordinator, Librarian, and Chairman of the Missions Committee for several years. She loved her church and church family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Thomas Killian and her daughter Jane Godfrey.

Mrs. Killian is survived by children Robert Killian (Debbie), Fred Killian (Debbie), Susan Besant (Rick), and Ragan Godfrey. She is also survived by grandchildren Kelly Godfrey Whisenant, Jonathan Killian, Kristi Scott (Brian), Wade Besant (Meredith), Will Besant; Great Grandchildren Mary Ragan Whisenant, David Whisenant, Daniel Whisenant, William Scott, Jackson Scott, Harrison Scott and Nola Besant.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Honorary pall bearers are Craig Jordan, members of East Gadsden United Methodist Church and Godchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Alabama -3840 Ridgeway Drive, Birmingham, AL 35209 or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Al-229 Cahaba Park Circle W- suite114, Birmingham, Al 35242.

The family would like to extend a special word of thanks to Scott, Tina, Janet, David, Kayla, Kendra, and Hollie of the Amedisys Hospice Care; Jamie and Nikki of the Southern Hospice care for their love and devotion and care; and the staff at Meadowood Retirement Village.
