
Funeral service will be at 12:30 PM on Monday, September 6, 2010 in Collier-Butler Chapel for Mrs. Mary Wilbanks, 86, of Gadsden, who passed away Thursday, September 2, 2010. Reverends Elton Beasley and Mike Hingle will officiate with burial at Forrest Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.
Mrs. Wilbanks was a life-long resident of Etowah County and a founding member of Southern Methodist Church and a founding member of Parkway Community Church. For the past several years she found great solace at the chapel service offered by First United Methodist Church of Gadsden. Mrs. Wilbanks was employed at Gadsden State Community College as secretary to the President and also employed with Goodyear Tire and Rubber. Mary liked to read and travel and was a member of Etowah County Historical Society. Preceding her in death was her husband, William Paul Wilbanks.
Mrs. Wilbanks is survived by a son, Robert P. Wilbanks, and her family.
Pallbearers will be Brad Burke, Capt. Chuck Pruitt, Jamey Moore, Rev. Jack Campbell, and Tom Graham. Honorary pallbearer will be Tommy Pruitt.
The family would like to express special thanks to Alacare, Rev. Elton Beasley, Mary Rains, and Lorie Humphries for their kindness.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Roosevelt Chapel, P.O. Box 1000, Warm Springs, GA. 31830-1000.
The family will be accepting friends from 10:30 until 12:30 Monday morning at the funeral home.
