Mavis "Elaine" Clement

Born on March 7, 1948, in Gadsden, Alabama, Elaine was the beloved wife of Donald Clement. Throughout her life, she was known for her deep faith, generous spirit, and warm, caring nature. As a lifelong member of Macedonia Baptist Church, she faithfully served her church family in countless ways. She spent many years teaching, helped establish the church’s Junior Worship program and food pantry, and was always ready to lend a helping hand wherever she was needed. Her compassionate heart and steadfast love for the Lord touched countless lives, leaving behind a lasting legacy of faith, kindness, and selfless service.

Elaine attended Gaston High School and was a graduate of the Class of 1966. She had 32 years of retail experience, beginning her career at Masons and ending at Walmart. She then transitioned to working with individuals with special needs and concluded her career as a caregiver. She enjoyed cross-stitching, yard sales, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.

Elaine is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Donald Frank Clement; her children, Christi (Matt) Farley and David Clement; her grandchildren, Stephen Starr, Jessica (Jerry) King, Christian (Erica) Farley, Cheyenne (Geoff) Chambers, Garren Brown, and chosen grandchild Kavontae Lindsey; and her great-grandchildren, Cayden, Brody, Jaylin, J.J. King, Bella Patterson, Brooke Douthit, Harper, and Grayson Chambers.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Irene Gargus, and her brother, Greg Reeves.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Collier-Butler Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the hour of the service at the funeral home. Following the service, Elaine will be laid to rest at Lebanon Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Starr, Christian Farley, Jerry King, Cayden King, Brody King, Garren Brown, Kavontae Lindsey, and J.J. King.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Macedonia Baptist Church Food Pantry or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, two causes that were meaningful to Elaine.

Elaine will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
