Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Collier- Butler Funeral Home Chapel.
Chaplain Bob Hembree will officiate.
Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery.
Melba was a graduate of Gadsden High School and taught PE at Glencoe Elementary School for 25 years. Melba loved every child that she taught and remembered them all fondly. She was very mission minded and had a servant’s heart. Melba was a member at Twelfth Street Baptist Church where she served as the director of the Baptist WMU and as a Sunday school teacher.
She served with the Hospital Auxiliary for 25 years, volunteered with the Manna Food Service and the Love Center. She was a dedicated recycler and environmentalist. She was a beloved mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James O. Buttram, Jr;
Parents, Paul P. Bush and Emma Jewell McMahan Bush. Sisters, Kathleen Williams, and Betty Bridges; brother, Paul P. Bush; and great grandson, River Daily.
Survivors include sons, Britt S. Buttram, and Kevin B. Buttram; daughter, Jena L. (Allen ) Sanders; grandchildren, Savannah Daily, Kristen Fleming, Lauren Buttram, Alexander S. Buttram;
Great-grandchildren, Grayson Fleming, Ledger Daily, Lexi Daily, Anslee Fleming, and Phoenix Daily.
Special friends, Marie Cook and Louise Bensinger.
Pallbearers will be Mike Erwin, Keith Daily, Allen Sanders, Alexander Buttram, Jeff Williams,
and Michael Fleming.
The family wishes to express their thanks to Amedisys Hospice Staff for their care, love and support.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Twelfth Street Baptist Church Building Fund, the Save A Life Foundation, or plant a tree in memory of Melba.
The family will accept friends Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 10:30am until 12:30pm prior to the service at Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
