Merrie Beth Howell

Merrie lived in Hokes Bluff, Alabama. In her early years she lived in Talladega, AL and graduated from Talladega High School in 1975. She was married in 1978 and moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where she and her husband attended Rhema Bible Training Center and were members of Faith Christian Fellowship church. They lived in Tulsa for about 10 years and then returned to Alabama. Merrie attended nursing school and became a registered nurse and worked as a nurse for 29 years. Her nursing experience through her career included pediatric care, home health, and nursing home. She cared very much for her patients and was loved by many.

Merrie was an active member of Faith Temple Church in Jacksonville, Alabama, and was dedicated to serving the Lord.

She was proceeded in death by her parents Phillip E. Smith and Norma Jean Smith; sister, Jenny Pond; and brother, Bryan Smith.

Merrie is survived by her husband Mark Howell of 44 years; daughter, Nicole Howell; son, Lemuel Howell; sister Meg Wood; brother, Barry Smith; sister, Nan Latham; sister Ellen Bean; and very many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Collier-Butler Funeral Chapel. Pastor Frank Reid will officiate with burial to follow at Union #3 Cemetery in Ballplay, Al.

The family will receive friend on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 from 5:00 pm -7:00 pm at Collier Butler Funeral Home.

Many people have expressed their appreciation for her grace, kindness, and her gentle spirit. Family was a big part of her life. She was faithful to serve the Lord, encourage others, and teaching children in the church. She is dearly missed and cherished by many.
