Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday-April 29, 2010 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Michael Wesley “Wes” Mertel, age 31 of Centre formerly of Southside who died Sunday-April 25, 2010. Rev. Mike Bynum will officiate with burial at Cherokee Memory Gardens. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services Directing.

Wes was born and raised in Mobile, AL, attended Southside High School and Union #3 Baptist Church. He loved his family, fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael A. Mertel, step brother, Michael Keith Mertel, Step Grandfather, Bill Walton, great grandmother, Iva Lee Bullock and step grandmother, Marilyn Walton

He is survived by his wife, Kristi Akridge Mertel

Children, Destiny, triplets, Kaitlyn, Makenzie and Michael Tanner Mertel

Mother, Joy Parker

Step mother, Jan Mertel

Grandparents, Frank and Joyce Lott

Step grandmother, Patti Walton

Pallbearers will be: Jason, Josh and Marvin Langley, Todd McGinnis, Jarrod Handley, Donnie Toole, Pat Maples and Walter Boatwright.

The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to the children’s trust fund at Regions Bank.

The family will receive from 6-8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.
