

A Celebration of Life will be at 1pm Tuesday, December 29 at White Springs Baptist Church for Mildred Medlin McCartney, age 90, of Rainbow City, who passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020.Rev. Chris Terrell will officiate. Burial will be in Old Harmony Cemetery. Collier Butler Funeral Home will direct services.
Mildred was born in Etowah County, Alabama July 4, 1930 to Arthur and Louise Medlin. She was a lifelong resident of Rainbow City and was active in the Rainbow City Seniors. She was a dearly beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Mildred was a member of White Springs Baptist Church and loved her church family. She had retired as an interior decorator for Sears.
Mildred enjoyed cooking for others, fishing, traveling with her friends, playing cards, quartet singings, and watching game shows on TV. Most of all, she loved the time spent with her family and friends.
Mildred was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Robert T. McCartney, Sr.; parents Arthur and Louise Medlin; son in law John Little; grandson Blake Winningham; and siblings Ray Medlin, Wanda McDorman, and Marilyn Barber.
Mildred is survived by her adored children Bobby and Donna McCartney , Artie and David Winningham, Pam Little, and Todd and Karen McCartney; grandchildren Amy and Chris White, Brian and Brandi Winningham, Kim and Chris Hummell, Alithia and Shaun Gunter, Kyle and Annie McCartney, Brittney and Richard Calhoun, Melissa and Dillon Mitchell, and Emily McCartney; 17 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; siblings Barbara Snow, Reba Mintz, Onita Hare, Roland Medlin, and Patsy Nolan; sister in law Geneva Rice; brother in law James McCartney; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many special friends.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons.
The family will accept flowers, or contributions in Mildred's memory may be made to White Springs Baptist Church, 441 Rainbow Drive, Rainbow City, Alabama 35906; and John Croyle Big Oak Ranch , 5265 Jake Minz Road, Southside, Alabama 35907.
