Mrs. Witherspoon was born on February 26, 1924 in Jeffersonville, Georgia. She graduated from Lanier High School for Girls in Macon, Georgia and also graduated from Young Harris College in Young Harris, Georgia. She attended the Nurses Training Program at William & Mary College in Richmond Virginia during World War II. Mrs. Witherspoon was a member of Bellevue United Methodist Church of Gadsden, and served several years as a volunteer at the Salvation Army during the Christmas Season. She is preceded in death by her parents: Charles S. and Martha H. Turner; brother: Louie L. Turner;

and sister: Imogene T. Sawyer.

Survivors include: Husband of 66 years: E.D. Witherspoon, Gadsden, Alabama

Sister: Elmina T. Kilgore, Macon, Georgia

Children: Rebecca W. Elkins, Gadsden, Alabama

William K. Witherspoon, Woodstock, Georgia

Robert R. Witherspoon, Houston, Texas

James N. Witherspoon, Atlanta, Georgia

Grandchildren: Katrina E. Herman, Brentwood, Tennessee

Sam Witherspoon, Houston, Texas

Tony Witherspoon, Mobile, Alabama

Carrie Clonts, Anniston, Alabama

Great Grandchildren: Morris Herman, Brentwood, Tennessee

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Bellevue United Methodist Church of Gadsden, Alabama.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Webb Sledge, Peggy, Vicki and Phyllis for their kindness during this very difficult time.

The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home Thursday, February 02, 2012 from 11:30 am- 12:30pm prior to the service.
