Mrs. Orlis Payne Thomas Bohannon

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Collier-Butler Funeral Home Chapel for Mrs. Orlis Payne Thomas Bohannon, age 93, Southside, who passed away Monday, April 19, 2010. The Rev. Harold Cole will officiate with burial at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Services directing.

Mrs. Bohannon was born in Ohatchee and was a devoted member of Green Valley Baptist Church. She was a matriarch of the community and in her 93 years sold a lot of gas and groceries from her little country store on Green Valley Road. But more importantly, were the millions of dollars worth of smiles and words of positive encouragement that she gave so freely.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Oscar Thomas and Ord Bohannon; and her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her sons, Sonny (Sharon) Thomas of Columbia, TN, Dennis (Cathy) Bohannon and David (Rhonda) Bohannon; daughters, Kathryn (Bobby) Smith and Linda (Jerry) Davis; 8 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Charles Abercrombie, Lee Abercrombie, Mike Harrell, Jimmy Parr, Steve Stuart and Lloyd “Red” Watkins.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
