

Funeral services for Mrs. Peggy Joyce Townson Dye, 73, of Gadsden, will be held 12:30 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014, at Collier-Butler Chapel. Bert Cothran will officiate with burial to follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home, and prior to the service on Monday. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.
Peggy was born on May 6, 1940, and was a resident of Albertville and a graduate of Albertville High School. She attended Gadsden State Business College, and was a licensed cosmetologist. Peggy lived her adult life in Gadsden and was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church. She retired from Red Lobster in Gadsden with more than 15 years of service. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and her weekly card club. Most of all, she was proud of her family and granddaughter, Hanna. She became the wife of Lee Dye, Sr., on November 25, 1960, and recently celebrated 53 years of marriage.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Vatrina Conner Townson and Louie Lee Townson.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Lee E. Dye, Sr.; son, Lee E. Dye, Jr.; daughter, Lana Joyce Dye; granddaughter, Hanna Joyce Dye Hudson; brother, James David Townson (Robbie); aunts, Novalene Conner Noble, Betty Conner Taylor, and Mary Ann Conner Sampson; special family member, Jamie Holladay; and numerous cousins and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Danny Conner, Mike Gibson, Jamie Holladay, John Nolen, Tom Simcox, and Randy Smith.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the UAB MICU nurses and support staff, UAB Pulmonary Physician: Dr. James E. Johnson, and UAB Rheumatology Physicians: Dr. Kenneth G. Saag and Dr. Martin Trojanowiski.
