

Funeral Services will be at Collier Butler Funeral Home on Thursday, June18, 2026, visitation from 11a.m.-12p.m, funeral 12p.m.-1p.m with burial to follow in Rainbow Memorial Gardens, for Peggy Baker Varnon, 89, who died on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Aunt. Peggy will be remembered for her love of children, shopping, playing dominos and mahjong with her many special friends.
Peggy was a lifelong resident of Gadsden, growing up in Alabama City and establishing her family home on Noccalula Mountain. Peggy was a 1956 graduate of Emma Sansom High School.
Peggy worked at General Time, McRae’s, Etowah County Courthouse Board of Registrar's office, and she retired from Belk.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Luther Varnon, Her parents Ned L. and Mable Baker; her grandson, Brannon Varnon; her brothers, Gerald Baker, Kenneth Baker; her sisters, Debra Cowan and Sue Eidson; Nephew, Eddie Cowan, Todd Baker.
She is survived by her sons: Mike Varnon and Keith Varnon, Granddaughter, Dezarae Harper (Tony), Aunt Brenda Fulenwider (Roger); Special Cousin, Linda Hall; Special Neighbors, Ann Mayfield, Missy Harrison, Teresa / Nell Johnson; Nieces and Nephews: Kendra Eidson, Kristi Eidson Kent (Barry), Craig Eidson (Beverly), Angela Tubb (Vann), Traci Dover (Jeff), Kelly Weaver (Michael), Theresa Neal Harris (Jimmy), Sherry Neal Arrington (AL), David Neal. Several Great Nieces and Nephews. Many Loving Cousins and their children.
Pallbearers will be AL Arrington, Craig Eidson, Tim Norris, Vann Tubb, Michael Weaver, Bubba Williams.
