
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday for Richard Alan Mackey, 70, of Gadsden, who died on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017. The Rev. Jack Campbell will be officiating and eulogies will be given by Jeff Sauls and Mickey Mueller. Burial will be at Lebanon Cemetery, Coates Bend. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will be directing.
Richard lived in Mobile, Alabama, for 44 years. In Mobile, he worked for Alabama Power at the Barry Steam Plant for 44 years. After his retirement, Richard and Jan moved back to Gadsden in the Coates Bend community. He loved golf, gardening, antique cars, going to car shows, and working with the church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Clara Mackey; brother, Amos Mackey, Jr.; and sister, Denise.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jan Couch Mackey; brothers, Charles and Dale Mackey; sisters, Cindy and Rita; numerous nieces and nephews; and special pets RC (cat) and CJ (dog).
Pallbearers are nephews and close friends.
Honorary pallbearers are Rick's bandmates, Mike Hunt, Mickey and Ronnie Mueller, and Greg Reeves.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Macedonia Baptist Youth Group of Coates Bend.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the hour of service.
