Ruby Louise McClellan

Ruby Louise McClellan passed away on October 10, 2021 after a long illness. She is survived by her son, Allen McClellan (Bandung, Indonesia), daughter Sherry Usry (Gadsden), daughter-in-law Ruth (Tomczak) McClellan (Bandung, Indonesia), son-in-law George Usry (Gadsden), grandson Jonathan McClellan of Mableton, Georgia, granddaughter Joy McClellan of San Francisco, California, grandson Stephen McClellan of Cleveland, Tennessee, two great-granddaughters and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Roy Elmore McClellan, her son, Ronnie Dale McClellan, her parents, Edgar and Alva Morgan, and sisters Maxine St. Clair, Myra Coffey, Betty Joyce Wigley, and Nita Ruth Garmon.

Louise was born in Cherokee County, Alabama, and graduated from Sand Rock High School, where she was valedictorian. After receiving her associate’s degree at Snead State Community College in secretarial science, she worked at the Anniston Army Depot and Allis Chalmers. She later worked at J.C. Penney’s, Westclox, and Stephens Diversified.

Louise became a Christian when she was a teenager. In her adult years she was an active member at Whites Chapel Baptist Church and later Crosspoint Community Church and The Church at Wills Creek. She was a devoted Christian who served for many years in different roles at her church, and was known as a gracious and godly woman who had a quiet and meek spirit.

Louise was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Her children and grandchildren were her life. She will be missed, but her family is at peace, knowing she is now in Heaven with the Lord and loved ones who have gone before her.

The family wishes to thank the staffs of Kindred Hospice, Camellia Hospice, and Amedysis Home Health for their care and excellent service.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Coffey, Duke Livermore, Ronald McClellan, Jimmy St. Clair, Michael Wigley, and Randall Wigley. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Louise’s nephews and nieces.

Arrangements are being made by Collier-Butler Funeral Home in Gadsden, Alabama. The funeral service will be held this Sunday, October 17, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel at Collier-Butler, with a brief graveside service in Crestwood Cemetery to follow. The funeral service will also be live streamed on Collier-Butler’s Facebook page. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service on Sunday between 12:00-2:00 P.M.
