A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Mt. Lookout Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., prior to the graveside service.
Mrs. Bishop enjoyed the simple things in life and especially loved cross-stitching, reading her Bible, playing games on her phone, quilting, working puzzles, listening to gospel music, and spending time watching football. Above all, she treasured her family and the time she was able to spend with those she loved.
She is survived by her children, Jerry (Kathy) Bishop, Robin Bishop, Louie Jay Bishop, and Sharon West; her grandchildren, Brandy Bishop, Laura Bishop, Beth Cook, Nathan Bishop, Andrew Gilbert, Taylor Bishop, Christy Adams (Michael), Stacey Lightsey, Colin Collins (Rachel), and Sharon Harris; 20 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Troy (Rebecca) Overby, along with a host of extended family members and friends.
Mrs. Bishop was preceded in death by her husband, Louie Bishop; her parents; her in-laws; and 14 brothers and sisters.
Her family will remember her for the love she shared, the memories she created, and the many years of life and family that surrounded her.
Pallbearers will be Taylor Bishop, Andrew Gilbert, Levi Adams, Michael Adams, Colin Collins, and Kayden Cook.
Following the graveside service, family and friends are invited to gather at the Gun-Belanger House, 872 Chestnut Street Gadsden, AL 35901 for a reception. Covered dishes are appreciated.
