Thomas Lane McCartney Jr.

Graveside services will be 3:00 pm Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Forrest Cemetery for Thomas Lane McCartney, Jr., Gadsden, who passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017. Dr. Larry Gibson will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.

A Gadsden High School graduate, he attended Jacksonville State University before leaving to serve with the U.S. Army from 1967-1972. He was a master electrician and a skilled metal artisan.

Tom (Lane) is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Lane and Margrette Williams McCartney; and son, Kevin Ian McCartney.

Surviving are his children, Lynne Sargent (Joel) and Cliff McCartney and three grandchildren: Morgan, Shepard, and Margrette Sargent. Also surviving, his sisters: Ann Weathers, Atlanta, GA; Sue Ellis (Tom), Saltillo, MS; Lee McCartney, Gadsden; Gwen Reynolds (A.C.), Winston-Salem, NC; and Jeanne Clarke (Mike), Mountain Brook; and he leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Collier-Butler Funeral Home from 1:30-2:30pm prior to the service.
