Tommie Nell Young Boatfield

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Tommie Nell Young Boatfield, age 85, of Gadsden, who quietly passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016. Reverend Kevin Asbury will officiate. Entombment will be at Crestwood Mausoleum. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.

Tommie was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on February 18, 1929 to William “Alex” Young and Iva Chandler Young.

Tommie was a faithful member of Turkeytown United Methodist Church and will be greatly missed by her family.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James “Howard” Boatfield; her parents; brother, William “Lloyd” Young; and nephews, Tim Young and Steve Young.

Tommie is survived by her daughter, Donna (Mike) Washburn of Gadsden; son, Dr. Joshua L. Baxter of Nashville, TN; beloved brother, Larry (Dene) Young of Rome, GA; sister, Patsy (Billy) Baker of Centre, AL; and several nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Turkeytown United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
