Vera Young Durham

The Heavenly host rejoiced at the arrival of Vera Young Durham who passed away December 16th at the age of 93. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, December 18th at Collier-Butler Chapel Revs. Dee Dowdy (grandson) and Taylor Gallman will officiate with burial at Forrest Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation service directing.

Mrs. Durham was born April 13, 1917 and lived her entire life in Etowah County. She was a proud and devoted member of Bellevue United Methodist Church since 1941.

She was a caregiver for so many during her lifetime and her life was lived loving everyone.

Mrs. Durham was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Durham; parents, James Willie and Laura Belle Young; brothers, F.M. and Edmond Young; sisters, Ester Creek and Mary Eads; grandchild, Patti M. Walters; grandson-in-law, Gary Archer.

She is survived by her daughters, Patsy (Gilbert) Walters and Frankie (Doyce) Dowdy; son, Chuck (Dianne) Durham, numerous grand and great grandchildren; special friend Fredda Young; many relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will include: Jay Dowdy, Griff Durham, Kenny Williams, Travis Prince, Chase Dowdy and Trey Dowdy.

The family will be accepting friends Saturday, December 18th from 1:30pm until time of service.
