Walter was born September 4, 1952. He was a graduate of Gaston High School. He had served in the U.S. Air Force, Army, and National Guard. Walter had worked at the Anniston Army Dept., owned his own electric company (R.B. Electric), and was code enforcement officer for the City of Glencoe. He was a member of Valley Baptist Church in Glencoe.
Walter is preceded in death by his parents, Margie B. McMahan and Walter C. Burns, Sr.; sister Hatsey B. Campbell; and step daughter Kandice J. Gargus.
Walter in survived by his wife of 32 years, Beverly Kay A. Burns and children Jeremy (Leslie) Burns, Jeffery (Marissa) Burns, and Kimberly (Cameron) Dilley.
The family will receive friends at Collier Butler Chapel Wednesday, August 18, 2021, from 5pm until 6pm. Funeral service will follow at 6pm. Rev. L. Dale Butler will officiate.
