

William “Bill” Anderson, 82, of Birmingham, most recently of Gadsden, AL, passed away on August 29, 2021. He was born in Shreveport, LA, raised in Gadsden and graduated from Gadsden High School in 1956. Bill graduated from the University of Alabama. His career began as a Medical Technologist which included a supervisory role at Baptist Montclair in Birmingham. He assisted in opening the first open heart unit at Birmingham -Montclair as well.
Bill served his Lord for many years as a member of First United Methodist Church, Birmingham, and his country for 7 years in the Air National Guard. He was known for being kind-hearted and intelligent. He was always willing to give love or send a card. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. William O. and Elizabeth S. Anderson, his aunt Martha Kate Anderson, his other aunt and Uncle Ellis and Margaret Wright.
He is survived by his sister, Libby Anderson Turnipseed, nephews and their families; John Turnipseed, wife Mariel, children Liz and Mallie; Dustin Turnipseed, wife Avery, children Jack and Andi. Other family members include Sylvia Wright Rayfield and Martha Gwen Nabors Sibert. Special friends to be mentioned are those he leaves behind at Mount Royal Towers Retirement center in Birmingham, AL.
The Family wishes to extend thanks for the kindness of the healthcare workers at Gadsden Healthcare and Rehab as well as to Dr. Douthit and Dr. Debra Reiland.
Visitation will be held at Collier Butler at 2-3PM with service following at 3PM on Wednesday September 1, 2021. Collier Butler Funeral Home will direct services
