William Bruce King, 76, of Southside, AL passed away peacefully to be with the Lord Saturday, May 15, 2021. A celebration of life will be at Collier- Butler Funeral Home on Friday, May 21st from 6 – 8 pm.
Mr. King was born December 17, 1944 to William Parks King and Doris Nell King who both preceded him in death, as well as his brother, Walter Parks King, his maternal grandparents: Alice and Walter Bruce Henderson and paternal grandparents: Fannie and William Parks King.
He was a 1963 graduate of Gadsden High School and attended Jacksonville State University. He was a member of Gadsden First Baptist Church and Southside First Baptist Church.
Mr. King worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and was a general contractor who also owned several pool businesses. He was a member of the Mid Atlantic Corvette Club and Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Ann King, his two daughters, Kelly Ann Motes, Kim Eilzabeth Smith and son-n-law, Christopher Carter Smith, five grandchildren, Brittany and (David) Jester, Scotty Motes, Christian Smith, Joshua Smith, and Samuel Smith, three Great-grandchildren, Maddie Cofield, Miles Smith, and Dax Jester as well as several nieces, nephews, and other family members.
A special thanks to Riverview Regional Medical Center, nurses and staff of the ER and ICU departments, Dr. Josh Williams, Dr. Eric A. Crabtree JR., and staff, Susan Egas and all who took excellent care of Mr. King.
