

Funeral Services will be at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Collier-Butler Funeral Chapel for our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, William “Ray” Entrekin, 80, of Gadsden, who passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021. Rev. Scott Hassell and Rev. Jeff Roberson will officiate with burial to follow at Crestwood Cemetery.
Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge.
Ray was born April 15, 1941 in Gadsden to Homer Lee Entrekin, Sr. and Annie Bea Entrekin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired as superintendent from the City of Gadsden Public Works Department and owned and operated “The Card Shop”. He was a charter member of Walnut Park Community Church. Ray loved Alabama football, watching movies and talking every day with his brothers, sisters and lifelong best friend, Ralph Cannon. He had a heart of gold and helped a world of people along the way. Ray always had a treat for any animal that he came across.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Eddie Entrekin; sisters-in-law, Kay and Pat Entrekin; brother-in-law, Junior Gilbreath; nephews, Jason Cleveland and Gary Lee Entrekin and niece, Kerrie Entrekin.
Left to cherish his memory is the love of his life and devoted wife of 43 years, Brenda; fur babies, Kobie, Angel and Sissie; children, Willie (Kenzie) Entrekin, Rickki Gewalt, Karen Lafayette, Diana Entrekin, Leigh Ann (Rob) Gannon and Christe Entrekin; chosen daughter, Tammie Gladden; grandchildren, Sara Grace Lafayette, Carmen Weisch, Josh Lafayette, Hudson Lafayette, Katie Gewalt, Madison Gewalt, Courtney Hicks, Jake Entrekin, Jessica Lipe, April Strickland, Dylan Entrekin, Chelsea Allin, Gabrielle Gannon and Lily Gannon; numerous great grandchildren; brothers, Connie (Barbara), Jerry, Jimmy (Charlene), Gary “Babe” and Homer (Linda) Entrekin; sisters, Linda Cleveland, Paulette Chandler, Vickie Mobley and Mitzi (Jeff) Pearson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Todd Entrekin, Mike Self, Noah Cleveland, Chris Chandler, Dustin Allin and Monroe Holland.
Honorary Pallbearers will be former and present employees of the City of Gadsden Public Works Department.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Walnut Park Community Church, 422 Wilson Street, Gadsden, AL 35904.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 am until the hour of service at the funeral home Wednesday.
Those in attendance should wear masks and social distance.
