William Robert Kilgore

Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Collier- Butler Chapel for SGM William Robert Kilgore (Ret.), age 87 of Gadsden, who passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Pastor John Dickenson will officiate. Burial will be at Orange Hill Cemetery in Hawkinsville, GA. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.

Mr. Kilgore retired at Fort McClellan from the U.S. Army after 31 years of service. He was a member of East Gadsden Baptist Church and the Rainbow City Coin Club. His passion for reaching out to people led to his being known as the “10 Commandments Man.”

He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Susie Kilgore; and 3 brothers.

Mr. Kilgore is survived by his wife, Maria Kilgore; daughter, Melanie (Lamar) Houghston; Step-son, Jeff (Jennifer) Pitts; 4 grandchildren; sisters, Bessie Kilgore, and Martha Anderson; a host of nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Molly.

The family will accept friends from 1:30-3:30 p.m. prior to the service.
