Over the years William had several occupations with which he was able to support his family. In the 1950`s and 1960`s he worked in Bessemer, Alabama at Pullman Standard as a welder on railroad boxcars. On weekends he had a hay business and raised cattle. He also had a septic tank installation business, Small used car lot and distributor of Yazoo City fertilizer. Years later he obtained his GED and attended Real Estate School and became an agent. All these jobs seemed to make him a very serious minded person, but I was glad to see him mellow out as he got older.
He is preceded in death by his parents - Oliver and Annie Mae Swindall,; His brothers - Bunk, Hoover, James and Sam; and his sisters - Mae and Clara; his wives - Violet and Helen; and his daughter Elaine.
