Adolfo Gastaldo, fondly known as Gus or Papa, was born on June 22nd, 1936. Adolfo’s parents, Lorenzo and Francesca, were both Italian immigrants and raised their five children in Dennison, Ohio. Adolfo met the love of his life, Roberta, in high school and married on April 12th, 1957 after serving four years in the United States Air Force. They created a life of love and true happiness; this being their 65th year of marriage. Adolfo and Roberta have five beautiful children and lived in Dennison before moving to Galion
and finally resided together in Gahanna for the past 44 years.
Adolfo was a devout Roman Catholic and man of faith. He knew God and always prayed for his family and friends. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over sixty years. To say he worked hard for his family is an understatement. His priority was to always ensure his loved ones had their needs met. After retiring, he volunteered with his wife at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He enjoyed being outdoors in his garden, this was his favorite place besides Italy or being with his large family. He spent countless hours tending to his garden and plants. He was an avid stamp collector, he loved writing stories about his heritage and family and loved playing all kinds of games (Boggle and chess) with his grandchildren. He was strong willed and stubborn at times but he had a generous heart and was full with knowledge gained through all of his life experiences.
Papa, Gus, Adolfo will be missed beyond measure. He was the patriarch of a family, who knew love because of him. He truly loved his family, and if you knew him, you knew that. His selflessness and kindness touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on the community and people he called home.
