Heaven gained an angel, Ann Marie Koczwara, on the morning of June 3, 2024. If it is true that living saints walk among us, then surely Ann is one of them. You wouldn't see a halo, but her radiant smile reflected her inner joy and pure kindness. It also infectiously created joy in others. Frank, her husband of 67 years, would tell everyone he saw, "She is perfect!", to which she would blush and laugh. No one who knew her could possibly disagree.
She never said a bad word about anyone. Instead, she listened, encouraged, and gave great hugs. Her doors were open to everyone. If someone was having a bad day, she'd say, "Let's have a party!". It's
amazing how a few scoops of ice cream can soothe the soul.
She always gave you her full attention, as if she weren't in the process of hanging laundry, ironing, weeding, or making meals. If it was lunch and you weren't in the mood for a sandwich, she'd make a hamburger. French fries? No problem. Her days were so full that a real thrill for her was when the family took off for fishing in Canada, with her blessing, and she had the whole house to herself!
One of the ways she would relax was with her card club. All 8 ladies would meet on the second Tuesday of the month, have a nice lunch, and play 500-bid. For 63 years!
Her five grown children, John Koczwara of Poland, OH, Christy Koczwara of Powell, OH, Debbie Sorice of Westerville, OH, Steve Koczwara of Columbus, OH, and Ken Koczwara of Louisville, OH are a testament to her excellent parenting. They, along with numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends will miss her dearly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12pm on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Church of the Resurrection, 6300 E Dublin Granville Rd, New Albany, OH 43054. A private burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, 248 South Belle Vista Youngstown, Ohio 44509 United States.
In lieu of flowers, please do something nice for someone else, as this would have been Ann’s wish.
