Brad was born as the youngest of two children to David and Gayle (Kish) Yakam in Cincinnati, Ohio on September 9, 1969. He grew up in Worthington, Ohio and went on to earn his Bachelor’s in Arts from the University of Cincinnati.
After graduation, Brad started American Medical Equipment with his fraternity brother, Tushar Shah. They have been in business together for over 30 years.
Brad married his college sweetheart, Jane (Popa) in 2000. He loved Jane and their four kids, Grace (23), Abigail (21), Emma (19), and Nicholas (17) more than anything in life. He was the best husband and father, and many were lucky enough to call Brad a friend.
When not hard at work, Brad enjoyed watching OSU football and going to his kids’ many sporting events. He also enjoyed scuba diving, being outdoors, spending time with his dogs, and traveling with friends and family whenever he had the chance.
In addition to his wife and children, Brad is survived by his parents David and Gayle (Kish) Yakam; sister Colleen (James) Neuenschwander; in-laws Daniel and Bonnie Popa; brother-in-law James Popa; sister-in-law Julie (Travis) Wadle; and nieces and nephews Eli, Arel, and Gabe Neuenschwander, Andrew and Ava Popa, and Lane Wadle.
Those wishing to honor Brad’s life will be welcome at calling hours on Saturday, April 15 from 2pm-6pm and at his funeral service on Sunday, April 16 at 11:00am, both held at Schoedinger Northeast Funeral Home, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH 43230.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Brad’s memory be made to support tuition assistance at Columbus Academy https://www.columbusacademy.org/give-pledge-online and/or the American Heart Association https://www.heart.org.
