Carl Ball proudly served our great nation as a combat engineer in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat. After returning home, he continued his service in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Following his military career, Carl mastered the construction trades, building custom homes and renovations before founding his own construction and real estate business in 1958, which he operated until his retirement in 2008. In retirement, he remained active, assisting his family with their businesses and projects on their homes.
Carl was deeply proud of his work and his military service, though he spoke of it quietly, often seen wearing his Korean War Veteran cap. Above all, he cherished his family, taking every opportunity to share stories and express pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Family gatherings brought him immense joy, and he was happiest when surrounded by loved ones, always missing those who could not attend. His love for his family will be dearly missed.
Carl loved camping and traveling with his family. He drove many miles with Ruby and their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren visiting beaches, mountains and national parks or whatever else his kids or grandkids were involved or interested in across the country. Carl loved vintage cars and working on vintage cars. He loved attending car shows or spending his spare time restoring cars with the boys and would often drive for hours if someone told him where there was an old car in a barn that might be for sale.
Carl loved Christ and wanted to tell everyone how his faith changed his life. He dedicated much of his time to the church using his talents to do maintenance and anything else that was needed. He worked in outreach ministry, prison ministry, youth ministry, music ministry evangelical ministry and anything else that God called him to do. He prayed daily for his family, wishing for them to find the same peace with God through the love of Jesus.
