

Carol Fern Montrose, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by love, on June 20, 2026 in Sunbury, Ohio.
Carol was born on January 4, 1946, in Columbus, Ohio, to her late parents Paul A. Detillian and Marjorie (Detillian) Steele. She is also preceded in death by her sister Judy Cook and brother-in-law Mic Gill.
Throughout her life, Carol dedicated herself to helping others. Serving as a licensed Realtor for 50 years she became a trusted advisor to countless families and earned the respect and friendship of clients, colleagues, and community members with her integrity and genuine care for others.
She had a lifelong passion for preserving history and honoring the stories of those who came before her. She was a professional genealogy researcher, speaker, and teacher who generously shared her knowledge and enthusiasm with others. She was proud to be a Daughter of the American Revolution and a Certified First Families of Ohio member, distinctions that reflected her deep commitment to preserving family heritage and American history.
To her family, she was more than her accomplishments. She was a source of unwavering love, generosity, strength, honesty, and wisdom. She shared the importance of family and the value of cherishing your heritage, gifts that will always remain with them.
Carol’s most cherished memories were the times she spent with family. She loved adventure and traveling, whether on spontaneous trips to the beach, adventures searching for long-lost relatives, or simply gathering with those she loved. These moments created cherished memories filled with laughter, togetherness, and love.
Carol is survived by 4 children, Cynthia (Mark) Vrabel, Sandra (Nels) Studlien, David (Orie) Montrose Jr., and Eugene (Louise) Montrose.
7 Grandchildren, Michael Vrabel, Joseph (Sara) Vrabel, Abby (Kole) DeVerney, Jacob (Savannah) Heil, Madison Heil, Zackary Montrose, and Kyle Montrose, and 1 great granddaughter.
She is also survived by her beloved sisters and brothers, Bonnie (Bob) Reed, Paula (Mic) Gill, Paul Detillian and Ralph Detillian.

Visitation will be held at Schoedinger Margarum Northeast, 1051 E Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH 43230, US, on June 26, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by the Funeral Service at the same location from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Committal will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 2592 Blackwater Rd, Chillicothe, OH 45601, US, on June 26, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
