Carolyn Baker passed away on August 14, 2022 at Mount Carmel East Hospital. Carolyn was born on April 11, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio to the late June and Theodore Andrew. She was a member of the class of 1965 at Grandview Heights High School. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, June and Theodore Andrew and her daughter, Catherine June Baker.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Wayne Baker. They met at age 15 and enjoyed more than 60 years together. She is also survived by her son Joseph (Sara) Baker, grandchildren Erin and Patrick Baker, her sweet dog, Luna and many good friends and neighbors.
Carolyn held a variety of jobs, including working for IBM in Japan in the late 1960s where her husband was stationed in the U.S. Navy. She started several small businesses over the years and retired as an Executive Secretary for Huntington Bank. She retired in 1997 to help take care of her grandchildren. Being a grandparent, along with her husband, was the light of her life. She spent a great deal of time nurturing the artist within both of her grandchildren and had a tremendous impact on the people they have become.
Carolyn was a true artist and although she loved art of all kinds, she excelled at quilting, beading and jewelry making. She also loved animals, music, reading, and traveling with her husband, especially to New Mexico and Myrtle Beach. She was a passionate supporter of the U.S. Armed Forces and law enforcement. Carolyn’s husband, family and friends will miss her greatly. She had a laugh that was contagious and her passion for the people she loved is unmatched.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Columbus Division of Police Honor Guard or to your favorite service animal organization.
